A three year varsity starter at offensive tackle who did not allow a sack as a senior. He also played defensive tackle and tight end. Led the team with 83 tackles as a senior, including five sacks, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He was SuperPrep All-American, all-area and all-conference as a junior and senior. Mike was team co-captain and named most valuable player as a senior.

He attended the University of Michigan where he was a four-year letterman who appeared in 52 games on the offensive line and on special teams, making 36 starts.
Won the Sugar Bowl as a junior. Received second team All-Big Ten Conference recognition in 2013.

Michael was selected by the Denver Broncos in the third round (95th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft and signed a four-year contract. He started all 13 regular-season games. played in all three postseason contests for the Broncos in 2015. On February 7, 2016, he started in Super Bowl 50 where the Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10.
