Bob St. Leger

Bob St. Leger was a two-sport athlete for the Eagles from 1996-2000. He was a three-year varsity athlete for basketball and volleyball and was selected as the Sandburg High School Male Athlete of the Year in 2000.

As a senior member of the basketball team, Bob was selected All-Conference in the SICA West, All-Area by the Daily Southtown, and honorable mention All-State by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. As a junior, he was a state qualifier in the three point contest and as a senior he was a state qualifier for the dunk contest. Bob continued his basketball career at the University of St. Francis where he received a four-year scholarship. Bob ranks in the top 10 all-time in many St. Francis basketball categories including scoring (3rd), assists (4th), free throws made (2nd), steals (4th), and games played (9th).

In volleyball, Bob was an instrumental member of back-to back state championship teams (1999 and 2000). In those two seasons, the Eagles had a combined record of 78 wins and only 5 losses. For back to back years he was selected as the SICA West player of the year, first team All-Area in the Chicago Sun Times and first team All-State by the Chicago Tribune. As a senior, Bob was named player of the year in Illinois by the Chicago Tribune. Lastly, Volleyball Magazine included Bob on their “Fab 50” list of high school volleyball players nationwide in 2000. Bob continues his involvement in volleyball and has been a head coach for sixteen seasons. In 2003, he was an assistant coach on the Joliet Catholic Academy girls volleyball state championship team, and, in 2010, he was the head coach at Marist High School when his boys team won the state championship. In that same year, he was named the Illinois Volleyball Coach of the Year.

Bob St. Leger currently teaches social studies at Homewood Flossmoor High School while also coaching volleyball.
