Conrad Polz

Conrad Polz started his wrestling career at five-years-old competing for Lyons Wrestling Club in La
Grange. After moving to Orland Park, he competed for the Oak Forest Warriors Wrestling Club for
several years before joining the Orland Park Pioneers. In grade school, he earned four State
Championships. In addition, he wrestled in many national tournaments winning multiple National Titles
and making the 2003 World All Star Team.
Conrad attended Carl Sandburg High School from 2004 to 2008, wrestling as a varsity starter for his
father, Head Coach Mike Polz, all four years. Conrad had an outstanding high school record, amassing
175 varsity wins, including 75 pins. He won his first State Championship in 2006 at 135 lbs. in an exciting
overtime finals match. He followed that with a State Championship in 2007 at 140 lbs. and topped off his
Senior year with a State Championship at 160 lbs. with an undefeated record of 44 - 0. Conrad finished
his high school career ranked No. 4 nationally by WIN magazine. He was named the Illinois and Midwest
Regional Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award winner. During this time, he also wrestled in
off-season Freestyle National Tournaments earning two All- American honors including a 2nd place finish
in 2007. In addition to his individual wrestling accomplishments, he helped lead the Sandburg Wrestling
team to three consecutive IHSA team Dual State Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Conrad continued his education by joining his older brother Clinton at the University of Illinois where he
received a full wrestling scholarship and majored in Kinesiology. He was a four time Big Ten
Championship place winner, placing 7th, 6th,4th and 2nd. He also earned two NCAA Division I All American honors, placing 8th
in 2012 and 5th in 2013. In addition to his wrestling accolades, he also received
Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and was named to the NWCA Division I
All-Academic Team in 2013. In 2010, Conrad made the Junior World Team and represented the USA in
Hungary.
After graduating from college in 2013, Conrad moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he pursued his
passion for music and served as a physical education teacher at Memphis Rise Academy, a newly
founded public charter school. Conrad spent his time outside of the classroom coaching a local high
school wrestling team. He moved back to Illinois in 2021, and completed his master’s degree in
Kinesiology from the University of Illinois. He worked as an Assistant Wrestling Coach at Sandburg for a
year, served as a teacher and Head Wrestling Coach at Bolingbrook High School, and is now a teacher
and Assistant Wrestling Coach at Hinsdale Central High School.
Conrad married his wife Amanda in May 2022, and they welcomed a baby boy Sean in June 2023. They
currently reside in Countryside, Illinois.
