Geoff Orr

Hall of Fame
Year: 2019-20

Geoff Orr was a two-sport athlete at Carl Sandburg High School from 1998-2002. He played varsity baseball as a freshman through his senior year and played varsity football his sophomore through senior year.

As a member of the varsity baseball team, Geoff racked up All-Conference and All-State honors in his junior and senior seasons. The honors culminated with Geoff being acknowledged as the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Player of the Year his senior season. He helped lead the Eagles to the 2A State Baseball Championship, their first and only in school history. His remarkable senior season capped off by being drafted by the Chicago Cubs and being awarded a scholarship by Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Geoff also excelled on the Eagle football field as a wide receiver. He racked up school records for most catches in a season (57 receptions), total yardage (1,088 receiving yards), and 12 touchdowns scored, all this despite missing three games due to injury his senior season. Geoff garnered All-Conference and All-State honors and was in the Chicago Sun-Times top 5 all-around athletes in the state of Illinois.

Geoff was heavily recruited to play baseball and football, but chose to focus on baseball. He attended Miami University where he led the Redhawks in batting average, total hits, RBI’s and was chosen Mid-American All-Conference his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He currently ranks in the top 10 for multiple single season and career offensive categories for the Redhawks. His baseball career was cut short due to a severe hand injury, which occurred during his final collegiate game.

His biggest achievement was meeting his future wife, Dr. Brandi (Sherman) Orr at Miami. They have two budding athletes Jace (7 years old) and Maddy (5 years old). They have built a wonderful life in Springboro, Ohio where Geoff has been a Senior Sales Rep for the past 10 years at Stryker Corporation, a medical device company.
